At Woody, we believe that every pair of pajamas, every stitch, and every piece of fabric counts—not only for those who wear them, but also for those who make them and for the world we live in. With our new Responsible Business Conduct Policy, we are putting our values into practice even more firmly: fair, responsible, and with respect for people and the planet.
Because doing good simply makes for better sleep. 💚
We are not an eco-brand. We know that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting sectors in the world. As a Belgian brand, Woody creates timeless, high-quality nightwear that lasts. But our commitment to reducing our impact goes beyond the lifespan of our clothing.
We produce two-thirds of our collection in our own workshop in Turkey (Düzce), about 200 km from Istanbul. This is quite unique in the textile industry, given that many fashion brands produce their clothing with external suppliers. We don't. It's a conscious choice, because it's the only way we can guarantee proper working conditions. It also allows us to continuously monitor quality and materials.
For items that we cannot produce in our own workshop, we work with regular suppliers and specialized production workshops in China and India. These include items such as slippers with animal heads, socks, and cuddly toys, which require specific expertise.
Around 160 workers are employed in our workshop. They all receive a permanent contract, fair wages, and a regulated work schedule. This may seem obvious to us, but it is not yet the norm in the textile sector. We also provide extras that make their work-life balance easier and/or more enjoyable. For example, they are picked up and dropped off at home by an organized bus service and receive a hot lunch every day. Young children are looked after in the private daycare center on the industrial estate, run by professional childcare workers. These are all extra initiatives that we offer them free of charge.
To keep our ecological footprint as small as possible, we try to minimize fabric waste during our production process. In addition, we organize an annual collection campaign where we give the collected pajamas a new life through the Kringwinkel Ateljee thrift store.
We are not an eco-brand, but that does not mean we do not strive to do better every day.
Every year we write our social report with great pride. Find out what efforts we made in 2024 to reduce our ecological footprint even further.
